2015 Workshop W5: UP-cycling Campus: Design and Build small structures in the open public space using reclaimed materials ECOWEEK 2015 in Prishtina, Kosovo Sustainable Design Workshop by Elias Messinas, Teuta Jashari-Kajtazi (architect), and Elizabeta Poljoska (architect). The workshop was attended by 20 Architecture students of the University of Prishtina 'Hassan Prishtina'.

Workshop assignment: Taking sustainability as the starting point, and looking at the open public space at UP-FNA from a fresh angle we will identify outdoor places based on observation: people moving, people standing, the sun path, the wind, shaded spaces, protected spaces, etc. Then we will re-imagine a different campus, and we will try to create it through design and building small to mid-scale light structures using reclaimed materials. The light structures will re-invent the open space by discovering and creating new places: places of entry and of exit, places to rest, to meet, to chat, to sit, to read a book, to do homework, to surf the internet, to wait for someone, to be protected from the rain, to be protected from the wind, to enjoy the sun, to enjoy the shade, to enjoy the breeze, to hide, to be exposed, and to bring new life to the UP-FNA open space.

2013 Ecological Design in Student Housing 3rd Year Design Studio, Interior Design Department, Holon Institute of Technology, Holon

Studio assignment: Aiming to utilize and revitalize the HIT campus in the evening hours that classes don't take place, students were asked to identify a location within the campus - the only prerequisite was to face south, and to design student housing for 8-10 students with a shared space (living, dining, kitchen). Students were asked to solve issues of direct sunlight (with shading), daylight, ventilation of the proposed spaces (natural and mechanical), and to increase density in order to minimize the ecological footprint of their project.

SUMMER COURSE IN JERUSALEM: Architectural drawing, freehand & rendering Technion Faculty of Architecture
An intense sketching experience that through sketching students learn to observe and to see, and then to sketch what they see. Sometimes discovery can take place close at home - without the need to travel to other countries. The course took place in Jerusalem, mostly around the Old City area, Rockfeller Museum and the Emek Refaim area and cemetary. Through observation and sketching exercises in mostly historic settings, students learn about the Orders, about architectural details, about proportions and about free-hand perspective. A course that enriches the architectural skills of students and strengthens their ability to communicate their ideas in their unique language of free-hand drawing.

The presentation of the course took the unusual form of the students sketching their own sketches enlarged on the walls of the Technion Faculty of Architecture building corridors... an experience that proved quite unique for them.
